Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These types of products being offered, usually online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
